Nice and smooth

Another interesting one

=The Good=
-Great chord progressions, I like the chromatic riffs
-Drum beats are decent
-Nice jazzy ending
-Love the mallet percussion!

=The Bad=
-EQing is weird..the overall tone of the piano is very flat and it sounds as if I'm hearing the piano from backstage...try boosting the mids and treble so it sounds less muffled
-Drums are weak...you need better samples

Ideas: 9/10 Diversity: 8.5/10 Clarity: 7/10 Overall: 8/10
Will I listen to again: Sure thing ^__^

MJTTOMB responds:

Yeah, my drums absolutely suck. And i'll consider the eq'ing next time i try something like this.

Very good!

I love the game feel to this one!

=The Good=
-Nice melodies, choir voices in the background work great to build the epic tension
-Nice use of the orchestra hits
-Drums sound very nice, I like the toms and shakers
-Mixing is pretty good especially on the drums

=The Bad=
-not much. wish it could be longer!
-bassline could be raised a bit I think or EQ more lower end on to it
-since its Afghan themed here are some quick suggestions for next time around: to invoke a more middle eastern theme use the harmonic minor scale when building your melodies. also, instrument wise, some light sitar and tabla parts would sound great! just for next time tho, good loop you got going on here.

Ideas: 8.5/10 Diversity: 7.5/10 Clarity: 8/10 Overall: 8/10
Will I listen to again: sure, excellent work! ^__^ good luck with the game, love your stuff as always :D

kelwynshade responds:

Hey hey!

I appreciate the very thought out comments. I agree with most of your points. Since the game is basically done and the tracks have been submitted I wont be able to make any changes, but I do agree that a sitar would have gone a long way.

Thanks for checking it out, SC3. Your comments are always welcome =)

sweet mother!

oh my this is a great track!

=The Good=
-Amazing piano playing, great style, sounds crisp
-drum sequencing is done really well
-I like the tremoloed guitar synthy or whatever it is
-I like how you end on the piano

=The Bad=
-Meh, piano could use some more 'verb
-EQ the drums a bit more, more bass to the kick, overalll could be brought out more and use dynamics!

Ideas: 9/10 Diversity: 8/10 Clarity: 8.5/10 Overall: 9/10
Will I listen to Again: Certainly, very interesting track ^__^

nubbinownz responds:

What an incredible review. People who take the time to review music like this really deserve alot of credit. Thank you so much man: )

nice

this a great track man!

=The Good=
-Love the choice of the house organ
-Great minimalistic style
-When the glitchyish beat came I jumped in my chair (great choice of samples)
-Interesting groovy melodies

=The Bad=
-You just need to add more elements. There's just three parts to this track that dont change enough, organ, piano, and drums, needs more stuff. Like bring a hi hat playing 8ths, a groovy bassline, maybe a slow fading in pad, another melody, it just needs more development. That's really the only thing wrong in here...
-If you panned the drums more it would be even cooler!

Ideas: 8.5/10 Diversity: 7/10 Clarity: 8.5/10
Will I listen to again: Surely, just add more elements to this and its going in my favorites :)

MrKilljoy responds:

allready changed a few things after your comment.
and thx for the good tips they will sure help with other songs.

cowbell!

not a bad track, needs less randomness

=The Good=
-drum loops are pretty cool
-I like how you structured the piano...could be used in one of the many crazy flashes in here, you know what I mean if you keep up to date with the stuff here :] cool melodies too
-yay cowbell!!! ^________^

=The Bad=
-Put some reverb on the piano to make it sound more realistic
-Randomness. Well its both a good and bad point. But it would flow better if you had some transition parts
-Could use some more mid oriented instruments, and maybe some creepy high pitched key riffs to go along with the themes

Ideas: 7.5/10 Diversity: 6.5/10 Clarity: 7/10 Overall: 7/10
Will I Listen to again: Possibly, not my favorite track but its a well enjoyable tune.

Gnydsmelt responds:

What a nice review for a track like this, it is appreciated :D!

Thanks ^^

Smoothing riding

Great! I love how you worked the melodies and the beat to make this creepy ^___^

=The Good=
-Great selection of instruments, strings work great together to add some creepiness
-Like your drum samples
-Rap-able indeed

=The Bad=
-Not much. I don't think it came into suddenly, you had 1 bar of a drum beat to transition into the main beat and there was enough buildup IMO
-Ending wouldn't be a bad idea, unless if you're trying to make it loop
-To fill a void, put a dark sounding, slightly detuned piano in here, although this wouldn't be needed if there was vocals
-EQ some more subbass to the bass strings

Ideas: 8.5/10 Diversity: 7.5/10 Clarity: 9/10
Will I listen to Again: Well it's not my style, so no. But this will a be a treat for many rappers ^___^ nice style, keep it going!

Blind-Bane responds:

thanks :D ill try adding a piano
its not my style either:P i was just playing around ^^

Great

YOU RULE! ^__________^

=The Good=
-Everything, 8bit sounds + reverb = genius!
-I love the melody too, nice bouncy basslines, cheery movement with the higher end synths
-Love the Mario effects
-Bitcrushed drums = win
-Perfectly constructed from the end to start

=The Bad=
-Nothing! well I wish it could be longer!

Ideas = 10/10 Diversity = 9/10 Clarity = 10/10
Will I listen to this again: YESSSSSSSS! Favorite'd :]

Father-of-Death responds:

SWEET!

:3

You make me feel all fuzzy inside.

Good Imagery

I like the general ideas in this track. There were some parts and sounds that could be switched (or removed) in my opinion up a little but for most the composition suits the mood you're going for real well ^_^

=The Good=
-Really interesting pads you start with, like the progression
-Key melodies go along really with the track, I like when you harmonize the keys
-Beat works decent
-Basslines rolls pretty smoothly
-The general themes are pretty entertaining
-There's enough variations in here to be suffice for a 7+ minute song without becoming repetive
-Good Sytrus preset choices: the pad, bellls, and the piano thing you used in the start. They all work well with themes.

=The Bad=
- Levels and panning- experiment in the mixer by making certain parts louder, and quieter, try panning the instrument more to left, some subtle EQ changes wouldn't hurt, like putting a touch of more bass on the bass guitar
- Put some reverb on the piano for depth
- Some of the synths sound too generic, don't be afraid to start messing with the wave shape, or juicing it up with a thicker chorus effect.
-you really need some more realistic drum samples for this track-stock FL samples dont gel to well in here
-beat could be changed up more in certain parts, try using less kicks in some parts and more snares
- There's some unecessary dissonance in here, because the general themes are tonal and soft it doesn't really call for any of that. The phrase at 1:48 is were the dissonance occurs, specifically at 1:49 and 1:56...try fixing those chords. I atleast think you should ^_^
-Presets I didn't like: Just really the FL slayer. A guitar would work well in here, I just don't like the sound of the one you have here...try browsing through the presets more or messing with the effects. I wish I could say more but I've never used FL slayer ^_^
-There's some minor clipping in parts (when the volume meter reaches the red), try experimenting with soft clippers/compressors
-Hmmm...not really jazz, I thought it falls more under pop or ambient :]

I like this track! I would just recommend experimening more with the mixing and sound development aspects. You've already got a bunch of tracks and the talent to make a pretty nice composition, so why not move a step forth? :) Good luck!

SkatingIsGenetic responds:

Thank you so much with the help. I'll probably try experimenting with the suggestions you gave me.

I've been getting a lot of complaints about my beats..rofl, but unfortunately that's all I have to make beats with...

Unless someone knows of a place where I can get samples, but I don't like to use sample beats =/.

Sucks to know that there is more bad than good, lol, but it will give me something to work on.

Well, thanks so much for the advice!

*Jumps*

great, professional sounding trance track!

=The Good=
-Great catchy melodies throughout
-Decent professional sound, like the effects and filters on the synths, like how you start into the beat
-Great choice of synths, I especially like the string pads
-Sidechaining!
-dynamic hi hats, no overused samples
-new saw or whatever you use on the second half is awesome

=The Bad=
-Can't find much
-Snare could be raised
-it is repetitive, but not a bad point. Maybe it could use one more melody in here for being 4 minutes. Besides, trance is supposed to be repetitive!

Ideas: 8.5/10 Diversity: 8.5/10 Clarity: 9/10
Will I listen to again: Yes! dl'ed and favorited ^____^

Terror-Proof responds:

Hey man thakns for the review,These reviews are the ones im allways looking to get back from people so cheers
Im glad you like the song man
Only took me about 6 hours
I didnt think i t would turn out this well and get such a good score and so much attension.
I guess this is my best track so far
Once again cheers mate thanks for the review

Hmm

Not too bad, some nice sounding riffs in here, but there's no transitions or really connections between sections.
,
=The Good=
-Some of the riffs are really enjoyable, actually I like most of them, some typical trance themes, but are nice when complimented with the pianos, and that choir and those cheery plucked strings riffs. The bells in the middle make the overall feel very happy. That square/triangle synth that sounds like its doubled in fifths is cool. They are well constructed too, and have a nice utilization of dynamics to increase the realistic.

-Cool percussion in the end, conga and a cowbell maybe? But i like the style
-Potentially has some interesting themes in here to build around
=The Bad=
-There is a lack of structure, you're just plugging in bunch of riffs. Put some transitioning parts in here, and carry out the individual themes out longer and develop them more fully. I'm questioning whether if those riffs are your own or if you're just slapping them together with a program like Garageband or Ejay. It was way to random for me and jumped all over the place.
-Establish your themes! Include some of the stuff you start in with the beginning, put it somewhere else in the song but with a twist.
-Keep the drums going on longer to sustain more of groove
-Where's the bass at yo?

Ideas: 7/10 Diversity: 3.5/10 Clarity: 8/10 Overall: 6/10
Listen to Again: Can't say I will :(

sorry about your tought week :( get better soon i hope

DJ-Bert responds:
