i think it's the first time i saw you writing a newposts, only saw you commenting on people's newposts. I like some alternative rock and punk music, but it never really was my 2cup of joy like metal is. Megadeth symphony of destruction i always remember as the song ghost - ritual did rip off, i love ghost it was my starter pack to the rock/metal music back in 2013 (i was a kid back then) also being sad because of a girl is gay

Honestly I think the fact Mustaine was kicked out and he was angry about it drove him to make his music even better.
I was never keen on Hetfield as a singer, personally. So the choice is simple for me.

I think the right thing you would be to say you used to see me a lot, since on the last 2 or 3 months or something i think i just made like 5 newposts, i used to make a lot of newpsots but I'm not hanging too much at ng like i used to. I may even get even more like supergandhi64 and disappear from ng, but only God knows.
What kind of pretentious and weird stuff? Stuff like avantgarde? One of the reasons i like rock and metal it cuz it can get very crazy and weird like O.L.D., Torsofuck, Flatulation, Spazztic Blurr, Extra Hot Sauce, Black Death (Pre-Darkthrone), Blood Duster, Gut, etc, etc, etc
ghost is a nice band, it may take some time to get used to them, but they're a cool band. Also last time miami got in love was 10+ years ago

I have listened to a lot of (royalty free) jazz music in order to find cool music to put in my animated series, jazz, classical (a lot of classical indeed), as well other genres like electro music, but electro, pop and ting really ain't my cup of joy. I will check those artists later.
That's a pity, i really love heavy distortion, blastbeats, chugging riffs, and especially the primal yelling common in metal music. I think my darkest sin is to be metal af
I ignore lyrics also, since in (extreme) metal music we can't understand much anyway

I used to listen a lot to MTV for a while too, didn't last very long, I remember videos like Jamiroquai and his moving room, and the Bittersweet Symphony (which the artist basically didn't earn a thing from I've learned since - copyright issues) most of all... wonder how I got introduced to all the bands I actually started listening more to, maybe they were there too, just don't have any succinct memories of 'em...

I don't recall Sevendust at all, but that video's interesting, the girl really reminds me of the Foo Fighter's one right below it! Which btw I discovered just a few years back, I remember getting introduced to Foo Fighters via a friend in middle school, but I didn't see the appeal back then, I stumbled upon 'em once more decades later and had a very different appreciation for 'em then. I think their music video based on the Falling Down movie was the first I saw, I appreciate their sound more and more, initially it was more so lore and lyrics, I really liked the way they did things, not necessarily how they sounded. The fact that Grohl was Nirvana's drummer too, and lost his own drummer, he's lived quite the tragic life; still manages to be a good dude...

Re: Metallica I remember seeing that chicken, don't remember the song at all. Car crash reminds me of P.O.D.s 'Alive' video...

I've definitely heard Headstrong before, but don't recall the name Trapt at all! They remind me a bit of Adema... pigeon timestamp? These videos invoke a weird sense of deja vu, it's so similar to the music I remember, but not the same, like a parallel universe of sound from the same era I'm just now getting introduced to.

I definitely recognize the name Switchfoot too, though don't recall this track either. Reminiscent style.

Smile Empty Soul: never heard of these guys before, but same! This is the sound I grew up on. This one's a banger too. I like the voice.

Oh dang Alice in Chains is another one of those bands I was introduced to properly pretty late... love this one, seen quite a few reaction videos of the unplugged version, tis special that one.

Now who do Mushroom Head reminds me of hmm... Slipknot? Hella reminiscent too, and I never heard this one either.

Haven't listened to much Megadeth but I do recognize this one! Great one for sure. I stand neutral on the M&M debate though, personally I think my favorite song of the two's Metallica's One - with music video especially, but I really haven't heard a lot of Megadeth.

Aw man I was about to say some positive things about Staind too. XD I remember that one fondly, I have that album; there's just not a single bad song on it... if you do like this style!

Along with Papa Roach's Infest and Kid Rock's Devil Without a Cause it's probably one of my favorites from that era. One of the ones I keep coming back to at least.

This was fun. I definitely have a different relation to this style of music, good memories all in all; the kind of energy I need occasionally to chase the angst away still today...

Musicalish IDM edition finna be interesting! :) Probably haven't heard a lot of that. A little Aphex Twin at least.

You hold one of the two main lungs of the world in your hand too, it looks like a beautiful place! I often wonder if our 'development' of the world is really the right way to go about it, in many ways we're making it worse and worse, I suppose the upside is the more developed a country gets the more aware we are of our impact; how disastrous it often is... ideally, we'd do something about our issues then, and improve all that can be improved, but profit's how we pave the way pretty much everywhere; there seems to be a lacking financial interest in most issues, and a fundamental flaw in what's rewarded in the world; how we view progress and gain. I hope you get to keep your nature at least, however developed Brazil becomes!

@Cyberdevil yo dude, i love european rock and metal music, europeans are the best in making music, the best rock and metal music are from europe. Sweden is great by their death metal bands, Entombed, Nihilist, Dismember, Carnage, many of my favorite death metal bands are from sweden. Norway is known for the black metal, even though black metal ain't much my cup of joy. Europe also have black sabbath, iron maiden, the beatles, motorhead, hellhammer, celtic frost, carcass, etc, etc, basically all the pioneers and best rock and metal bands (imo) are from europe. America have their cool rock/metal acts too, like pentagram (the american black sabbath) or impaled (the american Carcass). I believe God gives different nations different talents, music is one of the european talents
I don't think brazil will get that developed, Brazil will be as developed as China is since brazil is turning into a china, a rich and wealthy country but with it's people having no access to it's wealthy. Brazilian politicians are for sale like prostitutes, it will depend on how much foreign countries wants to pay to keep brazil's nature

@S3C i like black metal, when it's well done like Hellhammer - Horus Agressor or Bathory - Enter the Eternal Fire it sounds great. I just don't like black metal as much as i like death metal and other metal subgenres (specially: thrash, heavy, doom and grindcore).
I see you're into instrumental stuff indeed. In brazil there is this "bossa nova" thing by which is somekind of jazz fused with brazilian music, i'm no too much into jazz, nor into brazilian music beside some me and my redneck family and relatives and our redneck friend likes to listen to, music about alcohol, music about being cheated by your wife, and much love

@TheMiamiDeSantos well thank you man, I'm glad you like our stuff. :) I don't listen much to death metal myself, I tried to get into those genres a while, I keep coming back to more melodic metal like Europe, Sabaton, PAIN. And hell yeah Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, The Beatles are iconic of course... haven't heard much Motorhead yet; the rest are new to me... you've got Sepultura though, I love those guys! Probably others, I don't know enough South American music. Love Mana too.

I think the reason Europe has so many musicians might just be that we've been more encouraged to pursue musical education here, at least in Sweden all public schools have music classes, and an upside to the developed countries bit is you have more freedom with career choices; can choose to pursue creative crafts even if they're not the most lucrative. I can imagine elsewhere you're a bit more forced to get something that really pays the bills. Though I really have no idea what circumstances are like elsewhere, maybe it's just our cold and dark winters that make people kinda crazy; musically inclined. It might explain some genres at least, seems there's a lot of metal in Scandinavia. Are creative crafts encouraged in Brazil though, how are schools in that regard?

Hmm yeah I've heard horror stories of the politics in Brazil... and poverty doesn't bode well for the nature, of course you cut down forests if you need farmland too. Do you read about the new president in Argentina? Any hopes the political landscape may get as drastic a change as it did there? It seems he's really managed to turn things around for both economy and people, feels like *observing from a far* maybe we're getting an era of leaders that are actually capable of change...

@Cyberdevil yo, sepultura is the most famous brazilian metal act, but they're not very popular here in brazil, as brazil is a not a country into metal music like sweden, england and other european countries.
Here in brazil the school system sucks lol, at least the public one by which where i did start and finish all the way to high school. There was not such things as music class. We only have the things like math, biology, history, geography, philosophy and sociology. They were all pretty much the same thing, the teacher got there and we had to write things in our notebooks, basically that. They didn't encourage nor the creative stuff nor the stuff that pays, just those stuff like math, biology, history, geography. I think the only thing they tried to encourage besides that was leftwing stuff, like karl marx, communism, cuba is right usa is wrong, etc. But that's natural to come from the school system of a country with years and years of politicians on favour of that stuff on power.
But school was fun, i'm one of the most extrovert nerds to exist, so i had friendship with the "cool kids", many crazy and funny dudes, talk shit, do crazy shit at school, make fun of other kids (a thing i'm not proud of). There were some teacher that would be absent often so we had what we called here "vacant class", so it was 50 minutes of basically pure anarchy in the classroom, if it was a "double class" then it would be 1h40m of pure anarchy, those happened often. In some ways brazilian school was like a playground for teenagers
That guy in argentina i thought would be just another shitty try of the rightwing, but argentina is actually doing good, i was even planning to invest in an argentina stock (Mercado Livre, some kind of latin Amazon), but their stocks was just rising and rising. To have such changes is good for argentina and usa, by which got new leaders, while we countries like brazil that still have the old leaders will face our leaders anger and rush to pair their systems in order to fight back oppositions and keep their power. But anyway i'm happy to see some countries are doing better and going a better way

@S3C yo, mostly you can get the difference by experience hearing it, that's why a black sabbath is so different than a cannibal corpse, or a slayer is so different of an iron maiden, cuz they're different subgenres
Heavy metal is the most accesible the "softer" one, some people even think it's just "rock" music, heavy metal examples are: iron maiden and judas priest. Some people think guns n roses is a heavy metal band, but it's a hard rock band, heavy metal is more moldable and you will hear more different melodies, tempo and tunings than other metal subgenres. Heavy metal is more about technique than just sounding, like power chords, trem picking and such
Thrash metal is fast, the most important thing in thrash is being fast, it has repetitive drums, similar to hardcore punk. But every metal is about technique too, very fast tempo like 200bpm, a lot of trem picking, d-beats
Doom is the opposite of thrash, the focus is being slow, or toggle from a (bit) faster sound to a slower one, doom bands also like to use low tunings
Death metal is fast too, but being fast is not the most important thing, you will find many slow death metal, but the focus is sounding intense, like videogame boss music or final boss music. Many death metal bands also focus on souding very heavy, like cannibal corpse for example, but that's just the generic ones, death metal is pretty moldable too (more than thrash).
Black metal the focus is sounding "evil", but not intense like death metal, you will find intense black metal music but you will find beautiful black metal too, black metal also has more distortion and lower end production giving it a "filthy" sound, many black metal bands also turn down the bass due to sound like Mayhem (a black metal classic). They also avoid monster vocals like death metal, using their "grim" characteristic style of vocals
Metal bands can also combo subgenres, they can be a heavy/doom metal (like Black sabbath), a death/thrash metal (like Sepultura), black/thrash/speed metal (Hellhammer)

@TheMiamiDeSantos are there other local metal bands you know of, any Brazilian ones you'd recommend? It's an exotic strain for us over here, at least the little I've heard is gritty in a different way, I love more traditional percussion, tribal elements, vocals are so raw too. :)

Well hey the schooling may be a part of it then. :) I wouldn't say education's good here either, it's getting worse and worse too, but mostly because schools are lenient, for example parents complain if teachers lecture their kids; there's no order in classrooms. It seems to have become less about teaching and more just babysitting. School's mandatory and free, and not great, but at least you do get exposure to a lot of different subjects, and can choose what to focus on when you finally move onto higher education (if you do) or just start exploring the world for what it really is. We have the same subjects you do btw, but in addition to that crafts, with a range you go through as you progress through different grades: music, carpentry, sewing/knitting/whatever you collectively call 'working with fabrics', visual arts, cooking... language too, Swedish, English and another optional one of choice. Otherwise pretty much the same. Oh of course physical exercise too!

Oh it's interesting communism/Marxism is encouraged there though! I didn't know Brazil was at all anti-capitalism... you got to experience anarchy first hand too then huh. :D Sounds like fun, and best experienced in a setting like that!

@Cyberdevil when you're into politics you learn that the problem is not one or two people, but the ideas those people have, and those ideas can be centuries old and they live forever. Unlikely to have any good politician here, all we have is the same leftwing that been here for the last 20 years or a fake right wing (bolsonaro and his crew). That guy lula was president when i was a little kid, now i'm 25 years old and this guy is the president again, if he get re-elected then that mf (if time doesn't take his toll on him) only will be out when i'm 30, the age of @jthrash. But anyway brazil is only going downhill, if it starts to get better i will be at the age of @ShadenLines, my plan is to get the hell outta here, probably going to paraguay, panama or something
Brazil people overall aint that smart to know what capitalism, communism, socialism, anarchism, etc is, the average brazilian iq is 80, i have a redneck family and known a lot of redneck people, mostly of them don't understand those political things, my aunt didn't know what a "?" was for, i had to explain her it was to put at the end of a question
America and europe school system seems way more advanced than the brazilian ones, we compare to the brazilian when we see on the movies, series, etc, it's very different. And anarchy can be fun, but some kids wouldn't enjoy it (if you know what i mean), we made many crazy things at school, good times.
And also i don't listen too much into the rock/metal from our latin countries, i'm a latino, i love latin stuff, such as food, the climate, the (good) culture, brazilians are the funniest people, brazilian girls are the hottest, i'm a latino used to latino stuff, that's why i would change to another latin country, it would be too much of a culture clash. But when it comes to music american and europe takes the place of south america. So i listen to few of brazilian, mexican, colombian, argentina, etc, rock and metal music. Sepulura is my favorite, Sarcófago is the second one

On second comment: Hell yeah, Oliver Anthony comes to mind in modern times. :) They must still have a certain level of wealth or opportunity to be able to sustain themselves via music though, maybe works just as well if society overall is richer; those riches can be distributed to those with a passion too, if they just hone those passions; can climb out of poverty with said musical skills...

I mean there may be a lot of poor musical talents out there, and poverty indeed bring out the soul and special something in their music, but it won't garner a broader audience; international acclaim if they don't have the resources to record and somehow market that artistry. Which ought be easier to do in a developed country, even if your poorer...

It makes sense for sure. I think struggle fuels our better sides overall. Poor people seem to care more overall; know pain; thus also know empathy. Hard times seem to fuel not just creativity but compassion, and maybe the two actually go hand in hand. The 1% on the other hand seem more and more distanced and out of tune with the world, wondering now if any super rich people actually make music; what it sounds like if they do...

Leftovers always do taste better than the original dishes too hmm!

As for classical: A lot of metal does seem inspired by classical music too, Yngwie Malmsteen comes to mind...
