And hey, VicariousE appears, you see! He's here, indeed! Joyful tear, proceed!

I'm expecting a rebranding of the oracle lady doomsday scenarios that's old every leap year *knock on wood*

More like new ever leap year? Who knew every leap year reap err was told every leap year yeah... I do miss those mentions.

Hmm. No chance to work from home after all? I thought you'd been staying behind closed doors all this time. I really don't think it's all as dangerous as they say it is but the way media keep feeding the fire... paranoia's higher...

EDIT: All schools, gyms, entertainment centers, restauraunts (delivery only), most businesses (excluding grocery, hospitals, banks) are closed to the public

You holed up at home too? Hard to fathom this is really going on... crazy times. Wonder if they might be working on a quarantine experiment with all of this. Seeing if it's possible to keep people isolated. How they react.

No, I'm one of the unlucky few that doesn't get WFH privileges. At least traffic and parking space is -/+80% respectively...place is a damn ghost town...and there's a few stragglers here and there...in fact they made a flash game for my current situation: https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/562116

Haha without the zombies maybe... or who knows, maybe that's the second stage of all this.

At least you have your own transportation device though. Commuting's one of the more paranoia-inducing things right now. Everybody looking over their shoulder. And there always seem to be those who just don't care, who cough freely; almost seem intent on taking everyone with them if what they're dealing with happens to not be a common cold after all...

Faith in humanity is somewhat lowered right now. Feeling like if everyone actually just washed their hands maybe this wouldn't have spread at all. Immediate containment. No problems

EDIT: Okay, now I've been ordered to work from home, until further notice :|

Hmm! Not so happy working from home though? Commuting in tomorrow but it'll be homework the rest of the week for me too. Long walks for lunch. No travel times. Overall digging this possibility.

EDIT: Someone requested to buy my toilet paper

Holy shit man. Seriously? Did you sell? How much were they willing to pay..?

Pun intended? Don't know, I couldn't take their money, I just gave away a few rolls...

Of course. Thought about adding in some joke about the Pope too but it didn't seem very suitable to context.

Desperation gleaming in their eyes? Very generous of you man. If I had stock to spare I'd see this as a good business opportunity too, but didn't really have the foresight to buy anything beforehand. Doing so now... just wouldn't be right.

EDIT: Olympics Postponed

Crazy people are actually all out of toilet paper though, a select few must be stockpiling like crazy...

Man. :/ Still can't really decide if this merits all the media attention it's getting, if it really is a real danger or no. On a personal note: currently hopefully fighting off the early symptoms off a light cold...

And paranoia. Mind don't help much.

Same here. Not really a cold though, just some mild chest congestion/sensation that I think might be acid reflux...was wondering if those early February symptoms I wrote about on CyberDB might have been Corona, but no one else got sick that I was in close contact with so hopefully not.

Have had similar sensations ever since I started feeling like I might have a cold. XD So much in the mind... or, well, the body manifests our fears too. Body's all too easily influenced. Maybe something bicarbonate could help with? Been mixing that my ascorbic acid a bit lately as to keep the stomach in check. Seems to work somewhat.

Wouldn't that be awesome id you did though, and you're currently both well and immune? :) Some people get so minor reactions, hopefully if/when we get this that's all it is.

would eating alkaline foods have the same effect? It's good in that sense. But if so, how I do know the virus isn't still remnant & contagious. Unlike SARS, COVID-19 seems to spread even among the asymptomatic.

*with my

Ascorbic acid to assist immune system btw. Bicarbonate to make it less acidic.

Yeah I suppose so, anything alkaline should be good, though food has other properties in addition to that pH value. If fiber upsets the gut, for example. All I know is: bicarbonate typically eases acid reflex, can help with IBS, ulcers, other stomach-related issues that are a result of gastric acid imbalances, stress etc. It doesn't help with everything though, and it's not good to consume close to meals as it stops up digestion. A solid diet seems like the best solution, yeah.

Right... not so good in that case. Unless everyone you've been in contact with are currently immune to it too. I guess it's probably not though right? Doesn't seem like any of the standard symptoms.

***Official Coronavirus Timeline of This NewPost***

March 11: Not thinking much about it. Second case of coronavirus was at old workplace, not far from my old home (I was back for January-February). He fully recovered. Later in the day news that NBA player Rudy Gobert has it (officially recovered as of today) and Tom Hanks. NBA shuts down for season.

Cases: 1,100 / Deaths: ~40

March 14: TP has sold out (and is still scarce). school is closed (and the vast majority have been closed since)

Cases: 2,825 / Deaths: 56

March 15: Paper towels, bottled war, many canned soups and beans, adult diapers (wtf), most dog food cleared out. All items seem to be back in stock for the time being except paper towels.

Cases: 3,501 / Deaths: 62

March 16: Mass WFH commences

Cases: 4,373 / Deaths: 76

March 17: All schools, gyms, entertainment centers, restaurants (delivery only), most businesses (excluding grocery, hospitals, banks) are closed to the public

Cases: 5,662 / Deaths: 97

March 21: Entire company is now working from home.

Cases: 23,710 / Deaths: 298

March 22: Someone offers to buy TP from me

Cases: 32,341 / Deaths: 408

March 24: For the first time ever Olympics officially postponed. (They had been cancelled before due to world wars)

Cases: 52,685 / Deaths: 681

March 27: Informed that WFH will extend until May :/ Also, shortage of gluten-free bread now...I guess customers found where it was stored, hopefully they don't get hooked. And the worse news of all, a few people have been diagnosed with Corona in my local community. (There's tons of old people here)

Cases: 100,292 / Deaths: 1,476

Bottled war hmm, only in the US!

Nice with a log of this. Considering the quarantine state that last increase is pretty scary... but still overall so much lower tolls than regular flu season. If it wasn't for the seemingly unprecedented spread I think I'd still be wondering if there was really an reason to worry so much...

In person news: seems that cold's all better, so probably just a normal cold after all. Hopefully not, so I'd be done with this shizzle with mild side effects but that's wishful thinking. Intrigued to try some self-test when they get those going though. Numbers are rising here too, a workshop we've made deliveries to have the virus, will probably be working from home all of next week too...

so...

Cases: 1,100 (March 11)
Today there were 9298 cases in New York alone.

that's good, here mild chest sensation has diminished some, but still a nagging niggle.

A nagging niggle huh, gotta up the swag a little, go and bag some arugula instead of the rash-amassing skittles I used to frivolously dabble in when little... I'm a bit surprised it's spreading so much in the US though. Aren't y'all pretty locked down? People just ignoring any such summons?

that's a really good question. It seems most people are following such summons. Let's say the majority didn't willfully practice social distancing until March 20. Symptoms can take up to 14 days to show, and last for another 14 days. So the start of April may mark the median quantile when people get tested or others are receiving the results.

Also prisons (U.S. has a massive incarcerated population), hospitals, retirement homes. All highly concentrated places with vulnerable people. I'm not sure how much of these constitute the statistics, and what the rates look like among the normal healthy population.

Resident Evil remakes heheheh, wish I had some time to play these news ones, couldn't have a better occasion than this... and Doom Eternal's out now too. Perfect launch date.

just play a zombie game @NewGrounds

If only I had time to play a zombie game @NewGrounds...

Indeed, and recovery in critical conditions can take even longer, so maybe this is more of a delayed effect then. Trump did say the next two weeks were going to be challenging though, which seems to crack that incubation time theory a bit, hope for the better scenario...

Mmm, difficult places to take care of people in too, if say an entire prison population gets it... they might willfully try to get it as to stage a massive break-out in the face of pandemic outbreak, maybe? Maybe not. Anyway those retirement homes are a real risk. Over here two thirds of the one in Stockholm already have it, not good...

Better to live solo as long as you can.

EDIT: They've banned reusable bags in grocery stores now. You have to buy new plastic ones for 10 cents each or go without them.

Whaaat?! If you'd posted that a day earlier I wouldn't have believed this...

This might be doing a lot of good for the environment hmm. Fortunately no such bans here. Went shopping with an old (still seemed reasonably usable, no signs of defect) paper bag yesterday that just tore in half when I was about to walk away with it... got a new plastic one for free.

EDIT: A Tiger in New York has tested positive for the coronavirus. What prompted this and who thought this was a good use of limited resources and is the tiger under quarantine

*might not be, of course
