A must-play...but ultimately frustrating

The environments and graphics are very stylistic, as is the sound and animation just like Coma. Great job here. What makes this better than your previous game is the improved gameplay, the main character can jump off walls, use a giant hook arm to grab/turn on/kill shit, etc. the concepts were actually entertaining, and what makes a flash game an actual *game*, which cannot be said about many other flashes from the "art" game genre.

What's frustrating about "Skinny" is the story ends just as it starts to develop. Not until you talk to Felix does "Mommy" turn out to be the obvious antagonist. What significance does Skinny have in getting in the chair at the end? Why is "Mommy" trying to make all these creatures here slaves? What the flippin hell happens to Mommy at the end? I understand how my ultimate opinion on the ending may fall into the "average-lazy-viewer-who-cannot-think -for-theirself" group. A good plotline doesn't make everything clear and leaves questions, but there's just way too damn much room left for my own interpretation. It's like having sex with a girl but then being denied a second time- gratified, but wanting more. What you did here was not that at all. It's the sexual equivalent of inserting the tip of a penis into a moist vagina and then then you get instantly teleported to your grandmother's house.

holy crap

I feel like crying

Not a game

You should watch the movie "Funny Games" if you havent seen in it.

In fact, you only get style points for *not* having an in-game replay button and even going to the point of not being able to restart the game at all without deleting your cookies.

I cant decide whether to give this a score of 1 for its complete lack of interactivity and non-existent elements that would make this an actual game, or a 7-9 for somewhat fulfilling its purpose. But the graphics were subpar, and the lack of a story ultimately adds One-Chance to the growing slew of generic doomsday scenario media...should have fleshed out the plot to add some actual original ideas and just made it a flash movie IMO.

GENIUS

7th place! and LOL at 3-4!

its gets an eight for lack of diversity between level designs and enemies, but the concepts are fantastic!

terrible

your other games rule, but this is just fucking terrible.

Beat my score for today September 3rd

32070
727 kills
great game, use the M050 rifle and proximity mine launcher in the beginning, instead of reloading throw out your weapon and use the enemy's, and of course use the laser rifle in the end when the amount of enemies is high, so you can get easy Quad kills ;)

Fantastic

Freakin' enthralling game here. This is probably my favorite game graphics-animations wise that I've seen in flash, I love the shadowy figures and textures that compliment the well polished, grim backgrounds. Sets a great ominous tone, which then compliments the rather morbid story itself. Animations were flawless. Visuals were overall great!

Superb selection of music- I like how you included tracks with the orchestrated worldly vibes, and spiced up the soundtrack with electronically influenced music as well. Fits like a glove.

Story was decent, not amazing but gripping so far, havent finished the game yet and I'm hoping for not a generic ending.

Beneath the fluff however, the gameplay was mediocre at best- while the learning curve was simple, and the jumping ideas was a nice touch, and it was fun hitting your enemies off edges causing 'em to plummet to their deaths, their wasnt much of a fighting system. You had what? three of four attacks, and enemies (atleast were) I'm at were ridiculously easy to kill. Hack and slash is good, but I would definetly like to see a larger array of moves, like throwing, kicking, and a jumping move where you slam down into your enemy would be great. Maybe even have ninja stars or something that you can throw. The "quick" attack wasnt that quick, as the slashes were a bit lethargic to the point were it was hard to stop in the combos and get a better control over your character. Speaking of control- the running is smooth, but the jumping controls could be improved. It was hard to choose between double jumping and wall jumping, the movement between left and right was quite rigid, making some of the obstacles more frustrating thatn they should be.

But it really wasnt that bad- the audio and visuals were a strong enough saving grace to make this a gem that I will continue to play.

not sure if this has been said...

but i'm not omnipotent and i'm too lazy to read nearly 400 reviews lulz

-The download link example does not work as provided, it brings up a NaN invalid mp3 file. You have to directly paste the mp3 link on NG (for you newbs, right cllick and select view source on your browser, and then control + F "mp3" and then copy the DIRECT .mp3 link into the game prompter.

-The game itself rules, quite a major improvement from Music Catch 1, where really the value lied in simple yet crisp graphics and an amazing musical score, but really had no interesting gameplay. Love the new selections of different graphics and patterns, gives this number a lot more replayability, although, the game is quite mindless when you're just moving your mouse to collect and avoid certain shapes...

-Backgrounds would be nice, I think an animated star/cosmic thematic background would compliment the serene atmosphere perfectly, maybe a snowy background for some songs, a sunset, clouds, etc. Pitch black is good but adding more versatility by exploring this option would definetly be a plus.

-To continue with my point regarding the overly simple gameplay theme, I'm not a developer so I don't have any solid, in depth or specific suggestions that I can really elaborate on, but something that involves the click of the mouse to incoporate with the gameplay would keep players mind sharp, while not taking to much focus away from the audio and graphical side of the game. I was thiking of blending in concepts from games like "Firelies" by Bubble Box or "Boomshine" by Danny Miller. I think including chain reactions and colorful but light explosions within the next update would make this game a shinier gem than it already is.

-Regardless, still a KICKASS game worthy of the high marks its recieved, its great to sit back in my room and veg out, turn off all the lights and load up the game in full screen, capture those musical notes while looking at the beautiful stars above me and wondering to myself WHERE THE FUCK IS THE CEILING

My temporal lobes really appreciate it man!

awesome game man! Definetly a sweeeeet concept, probably easy to code, its one of those times when you think to yourself "Hey why didnt I think of that!???" great music too.

Evil-Dog responds:

Yeah it was pretty easy to code
check Josh's music it's awesome!

oh goodness yes

you always make the best games. I was getting a bit scared when you hadn't released one in a while. Ball Revamped is always the best tho ^__________^
