Also pancakes, but only since they're so versatile. Easy to make. Easy to store. Easy to eat with anything. I think I enjoy waffles more because they're the rarer choice.

I would say waffles are simpler as you can just pour the ingredients into a waffle iron. I don't see how pancakes are the better complimentary breakfast item. Waffles can be as easy to store if they are stacked in an alternating inverted non-inverted waffle sequence, so they interlock like Lego blocks optimally filling storage space and they can be bound together, unlike pancakes. Also waffles have been known to withstand the most cold, brutal temperatures, so they can be frozen, stored for ages, and ready to eat whenever. Most importantly waffles have syrup pockets, thus are able to efficaciously retain syrup (a precious resource). Think of all that syrup wasted on pancakes, that dissolves into cake itself or slides off the surface of the pancake onto the plate, and then table-mat, and then floor, leading to a sticky situation...

TIE BREAKER YEAH!

Well waffle irons do require that waffle iron, whereas pancakes can be made with any type of pan - or even without if need be. It just so happens finding a waffle-iron without non-stick coating seems incredibly difficulty these days, which is why we rely on old cast iron waffle irons for old stoves that don't work well with ceramic hobs, as we have. Pancakes can be made with a plethora of different ingredients as well, since they are flat by nature, and require no induced fluffiness to consume. You can switch between different flour types freely, and even throw in random ingredients like bananas or eggs (also possible to make pancakes solely with eggs and bananas), whereas waffles rely on a necessary base ingredients. In addition, waffles easily lose their crispness when stored, whilst pancakes don't much change, and not only do they conserve mass due to their natural density, but they can be folded, or rolled, or diced, and stored in any number of different ways without it negatively impacting the eating experience the next time they're warmed up (diced pancakes sizzled in honey, butter, cardamom and vanilla powder in particular is a favorite). Alas, I can think of no benefits to pancakes with regard to unfortunate sticky situations! Valid pointers there. Also waffles are definitely more aesthetically appealing.
