Serious Question for all Newgrounders (really this time)

Posted by S3C - October 28th, 2008

Fellow NGers of NG, male and female, youg and old, tall and small, black or white, circular or rectangular, I have a question to ask you all.

What are your aspirations in life?

For people that are in high school (or middle school) do you have any idea what you want to do yet? For those that maybe dropped out of school, or are about to or (maybe not) enter college, do you have any idea what you might get an education in? Or do you absolutely have no idea at all? Maybe you've already found out what your "calling" in life is and you're either working towards your goal actively or possibly already living the dream (if you have a profession, is it what you wanted to do? or do you hate your job?). What is your purpose and motivation behind these goals? Once the goal is complete, what good is it to you?

If you read this please tell me because I am curious :D

All my dreams and hopes died and went to hell a while ago. Now I'm just waiting for some random thing to light my way :D

What were your dreams and hopes?

I'm a Sophomore in high school, and no, I'm not yet fully certain with what I want to do with my life.

Currently the sciences are a strong area for me, particularly chemistry (though I have yet to take the full-on chemistry class my school offers). Music as well, obviously. :P However I don't plan on making it my life.

I don't really have any solid career goals yet, but if I did, I'd be working towards them to get a job I'd be interested in. If I find a job I like, I'd do it well, and hopefully get far with it, so I could live well with a family of my own (which is another goal of mine) as I am now with my parents.

Thank you for helping me waste ten minutes of my time. :P

Any time spent on my page is time spent wisely ;)

Chemisty/Sciences is indeed a good goal. Do you enjoy it?

Either a musician, a botanist, or a hobo.

Botanist!?

Quite a bit. :)

Also, why don't you answer the question yourself? ;D

I really have no idea :S

Well, above all i ofcourse wanna be a breakthrough within music. To create original and awesome music that alot of people likes is ofcourse awesome to think of! But i atm tend to Health and Social Services school (backup plan) Im studying to be a nurse =) I like people, very simple reason, people and medicin (to much bother to be a doctor, a nurse is more of a backup plan, doctor takes TIME i tell' ya!)

Shoot i just though i'd write!

I was thinking about the same thing :) I like medical related stuff, and I'm too much of an idiot to become a doctor :) Not really, but I definetly dont like this subjectTHAT much to not have a life outside my career or training towards my career :)

Well, I'd love to be able to live off of music, but wouldn't we all? If that doesn't work, I'm working towards getting certs for teaching art k-12. If I can, I'll attempt grad school to teach at the collegiate level.

Teaching is something I've looked into. Yes, everybody would love to. But its unfair to do something that you love and get paid for it ;) I'll just keep it a hobby! I do have ambitions to minor in music, but it stops there.

HEY its me lance ronay i just moved to a new page!

Ive seen it!

Like Karco, I am a sophomore in high school and have something of a grasp on what I'd like to do with my life.

Ideally, I would love to compose music for a living, preferably for film. When I finish high school, I would like to attend a music conservatory and major in music composition and theory with a minor in film scoring. I am currently trying to attain this goal by taking multiple music classes and actively engaging in study during my free time. Currently, I am in Band, Madrigals (choir) and AP Music Theory. Outside of school, I compose music to hone my skills and am just picking up some books on music theory, composition, harmony, counter-point, and orchestration.

However, I realize that music is a very unstable career path and also that it is extremely competitive. While I still plan on pursuing it, I am also considering the possibility of missionary work at some point in my young adulthood. I don't really have a backup idea yet, unfortunately.

So there it is. I am studying music and want to score for film professionally. I've got a long way to go, but I am certainly improving. At this point, music seems to be the only venue of work that I would actually enjoy. :)
